Dancing Dots is our pre-school class for 3-4 year olds
This fun and active class introduces the children to dance through music, mime and song. The loveable teddy, Melody bear, is the focal point for the pre-school and early year’s syllabus and complements Karen’s own syllabus in ballet and tap. Each session aims to develop a wide range of skills – physical, sensory, memory, language, emotional and social – through dance and mime. The classes are structured to help each child use their imagination and creativity.
All children receive an introductory awards pack, when registered, and then parents have the option to purchase additional award packs and medals. The children really enjoy collecting the stickers and putting them on their sticker cards and are delighted when they receive a medal.
Our youngest pupils start at 3 years old, but we also have daytime classes for 2-3 years, please contact us for details.
Groovy Moves and First Ballet & Tap
When the children reach the age of 4, parents have a choice of moving their children to a Groovy Moves class or First Ballet and Tap.
‘Groovy moves’ is an introduction to a new style of dance for the children, modern, alongside further developing the children’s technique in tap. First ballet and tap builds on the foundation skills the children have acquired and further progresses their technique and understanding.
Melody Bear continues to be a focal point of the class, but the children are increasing their movement vocabulary by dancing in pairs and individually, as well as small groups to increase their confidence in performing. Creativity still plays an important part of their story telling through all styles of dance.
